On
my last night of spring break, my friends from back home and I were trying to
get the most of our last night in town.
We began to reminisce about high school and all the funny things we used
to do. We were all telling our favorite
stories and then one was told about our freshmen year study hall that started
off with the teachers addressing the class.
He was giving out class announcements and then asked an older, named
Mario, in the class a question. Another
older student, Nicky, immediately made fun of Mario’s answer. Mario stood up and simply said “F*%! you
Nicky!” He was immediately sent to the
hallway and it was one of our funniest experiences in class our freshman year.
We
all started to laugh after this story was told, but a younger student who had
tagged along with us and had never heard the story could not stop
laughing. He was almost crying and
eventually we all started to laugh again.
It was not as funny as my young friend thought it was, but it made all
of us laugh for minutes without end. By
the end of our laughter fit we were all breathing heavily and calming ourselves
down.
While
calming ourselves down we realized that we could never create memories together
in our high school and that college has left us creating memories with new
people. We did not want our friendship
to end and vowed to each other that we have to keep making new memories and
stay friends throughout college even though we all go to different schools in
different places.
Laughter
that day bonded our friend group even closer together and will be one of my
favorite nights I have had my freshman year of college, regardless of the fact
that it took place in Lubbock, not Fort Worth.
My friends and I were talking and laughing all night until we had the
fit laughter at the end of the night. We
were joined together for five minutes of nonstop laughter that will be one of
my greatest memories of us all together.
That is pretty cool how your friend could laugh about the situation even though he never was actually there for it. But at the same time it makes sense. Laughter is contagious after all. I've definitely had moments where I found myself laughing about something I didn't even really understand, just because other people were laughing about the situation.
ReplyDeleteYou bring up a good point. High School memories are over and it is time to start a new chapter in life. I had a difficult time last semester accepting that my relationships with high school friends were going to change and now it was time to create new and stronger friendships. I am happy to say that this semester I definitely did. And some of those bonds were definitely made through laughter!
