One
night I was at an older student’s house hanging out with my friends. It was a nice night and my friends and I were
sitting outside in the backyard. We were
talking and cracking jokes when two of my friends began to spar. This sparring was pretty intense and we were
having a good time. I had left my chair
to get out of the way of the fight that was going on. I moved to a different chair, but this
chair’s leg was somewhat broken. My bad
luck would prevail again, and I as a sat down the chair leg completely broke
and the chair fell out from under me sending me to the ground. Only one of my witnessed my fall and we
immediately broke out in laughter.
We
laughed loud and for so long that the rest of the people, who were consumed by
the sparring that was going on, stopped to ask what happened. We finally regained control of ourselves to
tell them what happened. Nobody else
thought it was funny at all. It was one
of those “you had to be there” moments, but in this case it was “you had to not
be sparring to see it.”
Moments
happen all the time where people break out in laughter. Those moments may not make it as a funny
story you can tell your friends, but they are hilarious at the time. Whoever is in that moment will laugh with you
and will remember it as a funny moment in their lives, but it is only funny to
them, not to others. Living in the moment
creates this kind of laughter and humor.
It is not something that can be recreated or retold into a joke. It is a completely unique experience that
only a few share.
Uncontrollable
fits of laughter are an experience unlike any other. It is normally a unique experience and does
not come from a comedian telling a joke.
These fits come from everyday life and create a lasting impact between
friends.
